A beautiful original Swedish oil painting by Rune Pettersson, signed and dated 1968. Measures 23 x 30 inches including the frame. This atmospheric mid-century landscape depicts a quintessentially Scandinavian rural scene, with a tranquil lake in the foreground, slender trees along the shoreline and traditional red farm buildings overlooking fields in the distance. Pettersson has used a wonderfully fresh yet restrained Nordic palette of soft blue, blue-green sage, ochre and muted yellow, punctuated by the warm red of the farm buildings. Broad expressive, brushwork gives the landscape movement and texture while retaining a wonderfully peaceful quality.
